Diesel Traction Old and New
Direct Rail Services' Class 68, 68 003 "Astute" is the modern filling in a heritage Class 47 sandwich made up of Locomotive Services' active 47 501 / D1944 "Craftsman" on the left and stored 47 841 (still in DRS colours) on the right.
47501 had recently returned from diver/route learning runs in the Cardiff area.
47841, which was brought from DRS in early 2016, has previously carried the numbers D1726, 47134 and 47622.
Of note is the CAT (Caterpillar) van in attendance, indicating 68003 was having some work done on its Caterpillar power plant.
