Back at last (minus rings) - 92038 on 0Z51 at Crewe
Caledonian Sleeper-liveried GBRf Class 92, 92 038 is towed into Crewe station by assisting Class 66, 66755, prior to being shunted back into the Down Holding Sidings. 038 is the first-in-class to receive the "CAF modifications" to allow it to work with the new Mk5 CAF-built Caledonian Sleeper stock.
Also of note is the removal during overhaul of the tunnel rings (aka "polo mints") from the side of the loco and the Crewe IEMD depot shields from the cab-sides. 038 was the only "Sleeper 92" to initially retain the tunnel rings as whilst it was repainted into the Midnight Teal livery, prior to this visit to Brush it had not received an overhaul like the other five Class 92s that were put in the sleeper livery (010/014/018/023/033).
92038 was moved to Crewe by 66755 on 0Z51 Loughborough Brush to Crewe Holding Sidings having been released from Brush after over seven months at the works for overhaul and the CAF modifications. 038 had to wait a little longer after the move was delayed by 3.5 hours, however "Voltaire" finally made it to Crewe.
