Couperin on the China Clays

GBRf Class 92, 92 044 "Couperin" - the last operational 92 on Network Rail metals in Railfreight Triple Grey livery - powers the 6S94 loaded china clay tanks away from Acton Bridge station.

Class 66, 66 729 "Derby County", is Dead In Train (DIT) for this leg of the journey from Wembley to Carlisle, where 92044 will come off and recess to Carlisle station whilst 66729 takes the train forward away from the wires to Irvine Caledonian Paper.

 

EDIT: This was the last time a 92 would haul 6S94 on the WCML leg between Wembley and Carlisle. A combination of requiring the 92s to work additional tunnel traffic and routing via the S&C being preferred meant this long-term 92/electric flow moved over to the ubiquitous 66s.
