Still No 92
For the second week running the 6S94 china clay working from Wembley to Irvine Caledonian Paper was hauled by a solo Class 66, with the usual Class 92 that tops the train absent. This was due to a reduced number of Class 92s being available with 3 out of 10 of the currently active GBRf 92s being in Brush works for CAF/Mk5 mods, together with increased activity at the tunnel requiring the one Class 92 that's currently there (044) to stay put.
Snappily named 66 732 "GBRf / The First Decade 1999-2009 / John Smith - MD" did the honours this week, running a mere 221 Late through Hartford after a late start from Wembley. Despite running on a path routed via the Settle & Carlisle, 66732 went "Off Route" (in theory) and went the usual direct route via the WCML through Cumbria to Scotland.
