New Livery Pendolino - 390020 on 1M07
Somewhat in the shadows caused by the low winter sun, but the first time I'd captured one of the Pendolinos in the "new" Virgin Trains livery.
This plainer version of the livery was a requirement of the DfT as the sets are due a repaint - which the ROSCO wanted to proceed with - however the DfT wanted the livery to be future-proofed for any potential franchisee change when the West Coast route comes up for re-tender in 2019. Apparently Virgin Trains had to fight hard even to get the amount of red there is on the leading cars. Virgin have said that if they win the next franchise they will enhance this livery.
