Without Wheels

GB Railfreight's stored Class 92, 92 040 "Goethe" rests on its stands in the yard at Loughborough Brush.

Along with 021, 045 and 046, the remaining stored GB 92s have sacrificed many of their parts to support the rest of the fleet and face an uncertain future.

All four engines were part of the original seven Class 92s allocated to European Passenger Services for use with the ill-fated Nightstar sleeper service. Whilst they did see active service on freight duties as part of the common pool of Class 92s, they remained under the ownership of EPS and were withdrawn in late April 2001 when EPS failed to find a buyer for them. Although Europorte subsequently acquired them in 2007, they have remained stored ever since.
