Spares Donors
Withdrawn in September 2017 after its transformer exploded on HS1, DB Cargo's Class 92, 92 016 is now a regular spares donor to keep the remaining active Class 92 fleet going. Its unfortunate new role was reflected in its "downgrading" from the WQAA stored pool to the WQAB pool in November 2018.
Alongside 016 is the longest stored DB Cargo Class 92 - 92 035 "Mendelssohn" - stored since May 2004 and long since bereft of many parts.
In shot on the right hand side are two of the other long-term stored electrics at Crewe ETD, EWS-liveried 90023 (stored July 2005) and RfD liveried 90033 (stored April 2005).
