Voltaire-ations

Caledonian Sleeper-liveried GBRf Class 92, 92038 (formerly named "Voltaire") waits briefly in Platform 8 at Crewe station prior to being shunted back by assisting Class 66, 66755 into the Down Holding Sidings. 038 is the first-in-class to receive the "CAF modifications" to allow it to work with the new Mk5 CAF-built Caledonian Sleeper stock.

Also of note is the removal during overhaul of the tunnel rings (aka "polo mints") from the side of the loco and the Crewe IEMD depot shields from the cab-sides. 038 was the only "Sleeper 92" to initially retain the tunnel rings as whilst it was repainted into the Midnight Teal livery, prior to this visit to Brush it had not received an overhaul like the other five Class 92s that were put in the sleeper livery (010/014/018/023/033).

92 038 was moved to Crewe by 66 755 on 0Z51 Loughborough Brush to Crewe Holding Sidings having been released from Brush after over seven months at the works for overhaul and the CAF modifications.
