Combat Aftermath
A macabre image of an American Marine standing amid several Japanese corpses (I count at least eight). A souvenir hunter, he seems to have found himself one of the coveted Japanese katana swords. There are two Japanese machine guns (Type 92 heavy machine guns or "Woodpeckers") in the foreground and background. The fighter plane and oil drum in the background lead me to believe this is a Japanese airstrip taken by the Americans. I have no other info regarding the time or location of this image. Please let me know if you know any further details about this.
