The MEG review (SPOILER ALERT)

Overall verdict: 2.5/5 stars

Pros:

Jason Statham. I like the Stath as he doesnt ever take anything hes done too SERIOUSLY ;P. No seriously he doesn't I think well at least not in this film as he actually smiles and jokes around. Despite Fast & Furious and the Transporter films he is pretty much a B & C grade film actor in terms of the movies he makes though a decent one. Also fun fact; He was an Olympic diver before an actor so he was used to all the water action scenes.

The characters/actors were decent though very cliche and stereotypical which was a bit of a stupid let down like the billionaire science lab owner who is really daft and cant even swim.

Ruby Rose from Orange is the new black and the future TV Batgirl was good though. Shes also pretty hot IMO.:P

Cliff Curtis who plays Travis in the Walking dead was also a good character/actor though very underused.

The humor was decent and made me laugh quite a bit.

There was defiently allot of tension and suspense similar but not on par with Jaws and was more Deep blue sea & Pirahna ridiculous level.

The guy in the zorb at the beach scene.

The lab set design and the CGI graphics of the Shark, scuba subs and its deep ocean lair along with the other inhabitants in the Marianas trench.

The intense tow line chase sequence of the shark after the Stath in the ocean along with the scene where the shark begins to swallow the Shark cage and gets so close to eating the Stath and the Asian woman,

Cons:

Way too little of the shark in action. You have to wait over half way into the film to see the shark in terrifying action then there is very little left of the movie to see it in action apart from a couple of brief suspense scenes then the final showdown.

It was way too slow at the beginning then way too fast paced and not too devastating when the shark came along. The humans were more blunder some and caused more death in my opinion.

The Megs death scene was quite mediocre aside from the shoals of other sharks coming into devour on it.

It didnt need the lame romantic relationship in the story its so cliche and boring and almost every movie uses it in some way or form.

None of the characters were memorable or really interesting in anyway.

You had your typical save the ex-wife story for the Staths character however interestingly it didn't lead to rekindle-ling their romance with each other.

The shark eating the sub scene or blowing it up at the beginning if that was even the Meg then it should have been killed by the explosion.

It should have been R-rated like a 15 but not an 18 like Pirahhna which is shit and too explicit.
