Custom Lego Princess Leia

So as we all know, Carrie Fisher died one year ago today, December 27th, 2016. I remember when I first heard she had a heart attack, and I was really hoping she was going to pull through. But things took a turn for the worse and she was gone. I was like 5 or 6 when I saw my first Star Wars movie, A New Hope, on VHS. I fell in love with that movie the first time I saw it. Luke was always my favourite, Leia was a close second, and then Han was my third (Yeah I know, most people prefer Han above all the other characters, I'm weird that way). Leia was awesome. She was strong, she had a sharp tongue, she was beautiful, I could go on. And I loved her just as much in Empire and ROTJ.

I was disappointed that she wasn't given much to do in Force Awakens as General Leia. Also disappointed with Last Jedi, although to be fair, I was disappointed with the bulk of the movie and not just Carrie Fisher's role, which sucked because I was really looking forward to Last Jedi and hoped that she would have a memorable role in the movie seeing as this would be her last ever appearance in... well, anything, but I can't say I found much of the movie that memorable. If you did, all the more power to you.

I also enjoyed hearing her voice as Angela in Family Guy and watching videos of her at different events or seeing her interviewed on Stephen Colbert. She had a wicked sense of humor. I also had an immense amount of respect for her for talking publicly about having bipolar disorder, as someone who has a mom with bipolar disorder.

Of all the celebrity deaths recently, hers and Adam West's probably hit me the hardest. So I decided to make my own custom Lego Princess Leia. The skirt and hood you see are CapeMadness, the skirt was originally a gray colour that I painted white. The neck I painted white too, the torso and e-tape belt design were largely inspired by LegoMatic9's Leia and WavyFilms' Leia. I'll probably improve the belt at a later date. And that's pretty much it.

Carrie you were gone from this world too soon. I hope wherever you are now, you've found some kind of peace. Also, thanks for the laughs, and thanks for being one of the most badass princesses of all time.

R.I.P. Carrie Fisher.
