Land Displacement Monitoring
The Sentinel-1 radar images are used to caliberate the 24 hour prediction model and create slope-instability risk maps at a particular interval of time. In the regions of South of Europe, change in climatic conditions and precipitation patterns leads to concentrated periods of heavy rainfall followed by heavy accumulation of debris and occurrence of landslides. In order to predict the mixture of geological and hydrological phenomenon, Sentinel-1A and B revisit each part of the Earth every six days with the same line of sight. This opened up the possibility to use satellites for monitoring as well as mapping. The given imagery gives information of the high subsidence rates (shown in red) by zooming in on the flood plains of the cities of Florence, Prato and Pistoia in the north-western part of Italy, Europe.
