Origin: Andrea was a member of the Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport, and was working alongside Swiss Armed Forces researchers on Project K.N.I.F.E., Switzerland's first venture into nanotechnology. K.N.I.F.E. resulted in the creation of four neurally linked and operated nanotech arms which could morph into any sort of tool the user wanted. Andrea volunteered to have the K.N.I.F.E. tech linked to her brain, and after this venture succeeded, Andrea began operating as a government-sanctioned hero known as Swiss Army Knife. Early in her hero career, she was contacted by an agency within the DOD known as the Swiss National Agency for Protection of Superhumans (SNAPS) and asked to be an agent.
