Gotham Underground: Vertigo
With Intergang in her pocket now that she put Globe in charge, Empress Penguin decided to cross one more thing off of her list before she took the battle to Riddler; Deal with the Shadow Society.
She and Arnold moved into the abandoned clocktower outside of Gotham, and they immediately began to come down with a headache.
As they moved up the stairs the pain began to overtake them, until the were face to face with Count Vertigo.
“Ah, Frau Cobblepot and Herr Wesker! I must say, I have been expecting you.”
The two partners could barely answer. Arnold collapsed to the ground as Werner increased the power to his eyepiece.
“You didn’t think it would be this easy to deal with me did you? I plan on ruling the underground, and I was simply waiting on you and Riddler to kill each other, but now that you are here, it seems I’ll have to kill you and then kill Nygma myself!”
Vertigo laughed, and the laughter felt like daggers in Esmeralda and Arnold’s minds. He stepped closer, and it felt as though blood was boiling inside of their heads. Esmeralda squeezed her eyes shut, expecting the worst, when it suddenly stopped.
Her ears were ringing, and as she opened her eyes she could see Vertigo on the ground with a Talon standing above him, who had tore the eyepiece out of Werner’s eye socket. Vertigo was screaming, though all Empress Penguin could hear was the ringing. The Talon turned to her and then jumped out of a window, with Vertigo’s eyepiece in hand.
Werner had passed out from blood loss, and Wesker was unconscious. Esmeralda ran to his side and slowly picked him up, moving out of the clock tower.
That was one way to deal with the Shadow Society. Now, for Riddler.
