A Touch of Gold

Thank you, my dear friends, for all your comments and faves!

And happy Friday!

Leaves

Outside, people are getting knocked over by gigantic leaves. It isn’t violent, people are mostly letting it happen on purpose, because it’s fun. The game goes like this: you walk along until you spot a leaf, falling from the autumn sky. You hasten your step to dodge it but the leaf keeps getting bigger and bigger as it falls and twirls, until it’s the size of an umbrella, and then a tent, and then a parachute, and its shadow blots out the sun, and then it covers you, and knocks you gently off your feet and sweeps you along but it doesn’t hurt because it’s one big creased colorful cloak that smells like fall. No, the giant leaves are no trouble at all, it’s the gargantuan street cleaners that make me nervous, thundering about town, sweeping up the mutant foliage with brooms so big you’d think the world’s about to end.
