A small chink of light at the end of the tunnel.

A welcome letter in the post inviting me for my first jag of the vaccine. I’ll be very happy come the end of May 2021 when I will be several weeks past my second jag giving me fuller protection against Covid-19.

In the text accompanying my photo “Another happy shelf stacker.” Taken on April 12 2020 I wrote “It is possible that it will be sometime in 2022 before we all get vaccinated against this plague.”

Although here in the UK all the adult population is on stream to be vaccinated before Autumn this year I suspect it will be 2022-2024 before the world is vaccinated.

In May 2020 Chair of the UK Vaccine Taskforce Kate Bingham said:

“Our immediate aim on vaccines is two-fold: to ensure everyone in the UK that needs to be vaccinated against COVID-19 can be as soon as practicable. Secondly, to ensure adequate global distribution of vaccines to bring the quickest possible end to the pandemic and the economic and social damage it causes.”

Kate Bingham has done a brilliant job for the UK, let us hope everyone gets the vaccine soonest.
