Little Red Flying-fox (Pteropus scapulatus).
Taken at Werribee Mansion Park, Werribee, Victoria.
Not a bird but a flying mammal of course - and as such shouldn’t really be posting on Flickr bird groups at all.
The Little Red Flying Fox is predominantly a pollen and nectar feeder and is a “blossom nomad” who follows the flowering of native vegetation.
Native to northern and eastern Australia. The species weighs less than half a kilogram, and is the smallest species of Pteropus in mainland Australia.
