The alternative cover follows the same sarcasm Newsweek used in the original cover. However, it focuses more on the fact that Donald Trump has done nothing during his 6 months in the office but Tweet and go to the golf course as mentioned in the article. The alternative cover shows that even if Trump was in a desert and he had to choose between the USA, and tweeting and golfing, he would choose the latter. The headline invites the audience to guess which way the president would go, while indirectly hinting that he would obviously choose to tweet and go to the golf course. Furthermore, this cover will help the reader realize that the president in fact did nothing, while not directly meaning it. While the original cover would grab the readers’ attention because of its graphical appeal (mainly because of its colors), the alternative cover is more likely to grab the readers’ attention because they will be curious to know more about the story. It would give the readers an additional reason to read the article, while giving them enough information to understand the meaning of the cover. Also, the alternative cover is simpler than the original one, while conveying more information on the story.
