About 21 meters (69ft) to the southeast of the circle is a solitary standing stone approximately 1.9 meters (6' 3") tall. Boyle Somerville’s in 1909 suggested that this stone has a bearing alignment with sunrise or the winter solstice. However, if you examine Somerville’s diagram of this suggested alignment it does not pass directly through the center of the circle!
