The Wood Hole is capable of holding lots of salmon and has produced a very large salmon weighing 26 1/2lbs (12.0 kg). It was caught at the head of the pool on a 'Toby' spinner. The pool generally fishes well all season long and fly fishing can be very productive. The lower end of the pool normally fishes well, especially spinning. Sion Mills Angling Club (SMAC) control the fishing on the West bank however the East bank is controlled by another club.
