Who is your favorite Batman character? P.S. Thank You 9/19

via WordPress ift.tt/2QlrZxu

Last week, I shared with you that I have been a lifelong fan of Sailor Moon but I have not shared with you the cartoon side of the shows I used to watch.

Growing up, one of my favorite shows to watch was Batman: The Animated Series. If you have never seen it or heard of it, you can watch some of the episodes here.

This show had it all. I used to get so immersed in its great voice acting and the really dark stories it told. Some of the recognizable voice actors were Ron Perlman, Adam West, William Sanderson, Michael Gross, and Michael York. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I learned that Mark Hamill (AKA Luke Skywalker from Star Wars) voiced the Joker and he did such a GREAT job (Best villain ever).

Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy:

Even though Cat Woman is my favorite, I have always been more partial to Harley Quinn, mainly for her crazy antics, her character and interestingly enough, she mirrored my lack in confidence. Poison Ivy, was adored by my friend from school, Kristen. As they both were partners involved in the same craft, so were she and I. We were both artists that liked drawing anime characters and respected each other’s art style.

Earlier on this year she fell ill and passed on. I have no words anytime I come across her name on Twitter or Instagram or I see her mentioned on Facebook. To know I won’t be able to share life updates with her anymore is heartbreaking but there is comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering.

Nothing is cemented more than the meaning of ‘life is short’ and ‘take advantage of the time you are given’ on this Earth. This portrait might have been the first time I have ever attempted to draw Poison Ivy, but it will not be the last.

In remembrance of Kristen. Thank you for always being there.
