Forgotten Graves

Photos from an abandoned graveyard close to my flat. Many of the old headstones are just about still standing (and readable), but there are also some that are heavily weathered and illegible, badly damaged, lying flat on the ground, or slowly being reclaimed by nature (which makes some of the headstones fairly inaccessible). In general, the headstones are from the mid to late 19th century, with the oldest one dating back to 1859.

I was struck by a real sadness that these graves have been walled off and seemingly forgotten, so I decided to take my camera into the graveyard to get some shots of the headstones (treading very carefully at all times).
