Australian Pratincole (Stiltia isabella)

Strangely described as a ”long-winged shorebird of inland plains”. Bird of arid and semi arid plains, not far from wetlands. Elegant in flight with tern like wings. Seen in large numbers in the open plains, with a dangerous habit of sitting in the middle of the road, between Julia Creek and Kynuna, western Queensland.
