Pilotbird (Pycnoptilus floccosus)
Caught in the shadows. Bird of the far southeast wet eucalypt and temperate rainforests and coastal woodlands. Forages in dense undergrowth with abundant debris, frequently trailing Superb Lyrebirds after they’ve exposed litter and soil. Apparently their calls “piloted” people looking for lyrebirds. Seen in Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve ACT.
