Freckled Duck (Stictonetta naevosa).

Male in breeding colours showing the red at the base of his bill. Can occur in large freshwater areas all over the country. Is generally quiet and unobtrusive so not so often seen. Feeds in shallower water by dabbling and filtering and this one was upending. Seen in Jerrabomberra Wetlands, Canberra ACT.
