Endless opportunity on top of the world.
Known for its dramatic view in the Oregon Cascades over looking Salt Creek Canyon, tunnel 11 has become one of my overall go to spots in the Pacific Northwest for mountain railroading. With heavy over growth dominating a lot of the area, it has become a challenge to get creative with shots of
south bounds climbing the long grade out of Oakridge, Oregon. In the summer of 2018, this almost 100 year old structure collapsed midway in the tunnel, shutting down the main line for a few weeks as repairs were made. During the reconstruction, a lot of the vegetation and trees were removed above the entry snowshed into the tunnel, giving a vantage point that hasn't been as open in quite some time.
