Lake Vernago, in Val Senales, is located at an altitude of 1,689 m and covers an area of approx. 100 hectares. Lake Vernagt (Vernagt Stausee), an artificial lake, is located in Val Senales, west of Merano. The lake was created in the 1950s, following the construction of a 65-metre high dam.
