It's a lovely cold & crispy morning in Hertford Heath, but what would have been a normal Winter's day 50 years ago, is now the cause for weather warnings & school closures (35 sleeps til Christmas)!!

Top Right (Brush Type 2 vice normal Type 4 "Duff").

31255 - 4S?? (1822 SX Freightliner service from Kings Cross FLT to Aberdeen FLT, which was formed of two Freightliner five wagon sets of FEA / FFA wagons, loaded with 26 [equal 20ft] containers, so nearly full to capacity) - Welwyn North - 1945 - Wednesday 20/06/79.

Bottom Right (A rare not blurred picture of a moving "Deltic" with the point & shoot camera, thanks to a 20 mph tsr instead of the normal 105 mph line speed).

55011 "The Royal Northumberland Fusiliers" - 1L43 (1405 SX British Railways Inter City service from London Kings Cross to York, which was formed of 8 coaches) - Welwyn North - 1429 - Thursday 21/06/79.

Bottom Left (The afternoon "Whistler").

40184 - 3S35 (1415 SX British Railways service from London Kings Cross to York / Edinburgh, which was formed of 5 parcel vans loaded with Royal Mail letters & parcels) - Welwyn North - 1516 - Thursday 21/06/79.

Top Left ("Tractor vice Duff" on the loads).

37266 - 6B47 (1430 WSX COY service from Ripple Lane West Yd [ex BP's Thames Haven refinery] to Royston Oil Terminal, which consisted of loaded TEAs & TTAs for 850 tonnes) - Welwyn North - 1544 - Thursday 21/06/79.

This was the second "Tractor" of the afternoon, with 37114 heading North just 19 minutes earlier with 6P46, the 1435 SX COY from Kings Cross FT to Cambridge Yd [for Fen Drayton] empty sand train, which consisted of 27 individually numbered empty HTVs.

UPDATE (2005 on 20/11/25) - the clear blue skies & sunshine lasted until 1000, alllowing just plane to be photographed today.
