Best of North Carolina Award: LOGOS and PowerApps Project, N.C. Department of State Treasurer
The N.C. Department of State Treasurer’s State and Local Government Finance Division (SLGFD) supports the state of North Carolina and more than 1,300 units of local government through the sale and delivery of all state and local debt and monitoring/analyzing the fiscal health and accounting practices of all local governments.
The processes to support these responsibilities relied on manual or low-tech solutions, such as email and spreadsheets and inefficient legacy software systems. In 2018, SLGFD undertook a larger initiative to automate its business processes through the development of an internet/intranet web application LOGOS (Local Government System) and modernization of the cloud-based User Interfaces.
The project has tremendously improved on the manual inefficiencies of the SLGFD business processes that, in turn, improved the customer experience. Implementation of LOGOS automated pipelines for IT processes to provide faster development and deployment of the project goals reached to enforce the legislative changes/updates in the system. Timely planning and deployment of cloud-based UI modernization power portals and applications to provide efficient interfaces for the Local Government Units that contributed to a maximized business staff talent.
