The pursuit of happiness

All human beings naturally desire happiness. And while I can never seem to capture it in its raw form, I am starting to believe it is obtainable and teachable through human effort. That happiness is not dependent on materialistic items. Therefore, I snapped a picture of a book I am currently reading (in my personal sanctuary aka my bedroom) in order to kickoff my journey for this pursuit. I left this image in black and white since I currently see unhappiness and happiness in that manner; there is no in-between. Either there is happiness or there is unhappiness. If things happen in accordance with my wishes, the world is bright. But if the smallest little thing goes against me, the world looks black. Funnily enough, happiness is often found when other desires are fulfilled. However, expecting a world catered to me is unrealistic and unattainable. Perhaps happiness is letting go of desires? Maybe it is related to virtue and not feeling? Or maybe understanding my identity will lead to happiness? There is definitely a connection between the two. I need to reform my psyche and my concept of happiness in order to better my state of mind- to better my future.
