WOGR The Wrong Way

After finding nothing moving on CSXT in Framingham or Worcester on this quiet Boxing Day morning I headed over to check on the Providence and Worcester. My hopes of perhaps chasing WOGR to Gardner were dashed when I heard that crew call instead to head south down the original mainline with a trio of light engines. But at least they were headed in the direction of home so I grabbed a couple shots.

Here they are with PW 4005, 4002 and 4004 approaching the Blackstone River Road crossing at MP 40.8 on the mainline headed to the Providence area to pick up an 80 car empty unit ethanol train...the final one of 2024. I'm not sure how many total ethanol trains were delivered to the Shell terminal in 2024 but I'd love to know the answer and how that compares to prior years if anyone has that information.

As for these units PW 4005 is a GE B40-8W originally blt. Feb. 1992 as Santa Fe 561 respectively and was acquired in 2010 along with sisters 4006 and 4007 the latter of which has since been repainted in Genesee and Wyoming orange. Trailing 4002 and 4004 are standard cab B40-8s blt. Jun. 1988 as NYSW 4008 and 4002 respectively.
