A Splash Of Sunshine

What can I say. I just love a classic class 1 branchline local so here's another take on this location, this time with a nice splash of sunshine to liven up the scene.

CSXT local L004 out of Framingham has arrived af their destination here at about MP QBU 6.2 on CSXT's Fitchburg Secondary, a former New Haven (originally Old Colony Railroad) route. They dropped their train of 18 empty gons on the branchline main and are now working over the hump and down the hill gathering up 18 loads from the three stub ended tracks at the Win-Waste facility.

This customer has breathed new life into the north end of this historic route and now trains run three days a week always with a pair of GP40-2s. And word is they are negotiating with CSXT to up service to 5 days a week which would be a remarkable turnaround for a line many had feared was on borrowed time!

To learn some history of this old school meandering 30 mile long branchline check out the long caption with the earlier post in this series.
