L012 Arriving
The fifth train of this busy morning was CSXT local L012 from West Springfield seen clattering over the NECR diamond at and taking the controlled siding at CP83 on CSXT's Boston Sub behind a pair of GP40-2s headed down to work the east end of Palmer Yard. Meanwhile NECR local 603 is shoving around the connection track beside them into west end of the yard with a large cut of interchange for the CSXT.
Standing guard at the junction as it has for 141 years is the 1883 built H.H. Richardson designed Union Station now home to the fabulous Steaming Tender restaurant. In the parking lot is 0-6-0 number 102 built by H.K. Porter in 1915 for Southern Sand and Gravel of Massaponax, VA.
