Three In A Row At COAL

The 3 PM Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway trip is southbound headed back to town from its trip out into the gorge as it shoves up the ramp through COAL interlocking at MP 124.9 on the modern day RBMN's Lehigh Division mainline. This is where they leave former Lehigh Valley trackage and enter the ex Central Railroad of New Jersey mainline via this new connection built by the Reading and Northern where historically one never existed. The track immediately to their right below the wall is the RBMN's Lehighton Branch which is the former LV/CR Main 1 and the old Main 2 to the right of that is still owned by Norfolk Southern as their Lehigh Line.

Powering the train is sharply painted RBMN 2013 a rebuilt GP38-2 acquired from NS that was orginally built as a high hood unit in Aug. 1973 as SOU 5070 and received a new cab and low nose in 2015 and then was sold five years later.
