Glass Out Goodness

I've always been partial to 'glass out' switchers so this really was the best choice once they didn't take the 22 from New Milford

Continuing with the chase of Housatonic Railroad train NX-12 making their Sunday turn from Canaan to New Milford and back. Having run down to the 'yard' behind Kimberly Clark and swapped out cars for the NX-10 local they are now headed back north. The short train is curling through the woods approaching the dirt Rooster Tail Hollow Road crossing at about MP 15.3 on the old New Haven Berkshire Line main.

This historic route following its namesake river the whole way is exceptionally scenic, but sadly none of the road's own sharply painted green and yellow HRRC units are presently in service and they rely almost entirely on leased GATX locomotives. In charge this day were GP38-2 GMTX 2328 (blt. Feb 1966 as Illinois Central GP40 number 3011) and MP15DC GMTX 229 (blt. Apr. 1982 as SOU 2408) which is now leading glass out for the trip back home.
