Downhill Past Ludlow
Having crested the 1518 ft summit of the Green Mountains about seven miles behind them, Vermont Railway train 263 is descending eastward on the Green Mountain Railroad's Bellows Falls Subdivision which dates from 1849 when the mainline from Bellows Falls to Burlington opened for business. Leading the way past the historic Rutland Railroad station here at about MP B27 is SD70M-2 431 built in December 2006 for the Florida East Coast, and one of only two six axle units on the roster. She is trailed by three geeps and thirty cars destined for Riverside Yard in Rockingham.
