Merger Memories
The LJP45 'Dirt Train' local power displays a nice merger combination of power nearly a decade after Union Pacific absorbed the Southern Pacific and its Rio Grande subsidiary. Leading is UP 2776 former SP SD40M-2 8700 (it is a circa 1994 M-K Mountaintop rebuild from an SD45 originally blt. Feb. 1967 as CNW 901), in the middle is UP 3747 and SD40-2 blt. Feb. 1980 new for the railroad, and trailing is the famous DRGW 5371 the last unpatched original Grande unit an SD40T-2 blt. Aug. 1975.
The classic EMD trifecta is getting ready to head east to Price for a little customer work on this pretty February morning and then upon return the real fun would begin as told here: flic.kr/p/2n7tBhA
