Climbing At 149
Two miles further north I snagged this nice bonus shot of Readind and Northern's northbound NRFF passing the intermediate signal at MP LS 149 of modern day RBMN's Lehigh Division mainline. Unlike the signals on the Reading Division which were all reinstalled by RBMN, the signals on the upper Lehigh Line date to NS, CR, and predecessors LV or CNJ.
'America's Freight Train' is climbing the 0.9% grade to Crestwood with a healthy sized train behind five green and yellow EMDs led by RBMN 3053 (an SD40-2 blt. Apr. 1980 as MP 3321). The climb will level off about 3 1/2 miles ahead in the aptly named town of Mountain Top before beginning the long descent to Dupont and Pittston.
