A Little Bright Future

I was scrolling through Flickr recently and saw a post that there are only two GP40-2s left in YN2 'Bright Future' paint on the entire CSXT system. I have no idea if there are GP38-2s or slugs left at this point and sadly I never shot more than a handful of them.

So that got me thinking and I stumbled across this shot from more than a dozen years ago.

Here is a view looking railroad south down off Joe Johnson drive at the small CSXT Yard at about MP 275.7 on CSXT's KD Subdivision (the ex Louisville and Nashville Railroad mainline to Atlanta) in downtown Knoxville surrounded by the giant UT campus as a slug set does a bit of switching.

GP38-2 2502 (blt. Mar. 1973 as SCL 502) still wearing an old Yb scheme is mated to road slug 2349 (blt. Jun. 1971 as a GP38AC for the Louisville and Nashville as their number 4046). Last I checked she is still around but now wears modern YN3b paint.

If you're interested in the weird variations of CSXT paint this older link I found provides a nice summary: www.trainweb.org/csxphotos/schemes_csx.htm
