Oklahoma Pastoral
With no particular plan and not knowing any spots we just drove north exploring along the way until we finally found a spot we liked and decided to hang out. This tiny little community is tucked in the valley of Sallisaw Creek surrounded by the rolling Cookson Hills. The wide pastureland, lazy cows, and classic red barn made for a peaceful and bucolic scene. We had a rather long wait and nearly dozed off waiting on a train here. We shot the DP units on our same coal train here and then hung around till a southbound showed up which we followed back south with our eye on a chase up Rich Mountain in the evening.
Here again is the BNSF/KCS GE duo on the hind end of the CTXKC 03 empty coal train. They are seen here just after clearing the S. 4641 Rd. crossing at about MP 271.6 on KCS' Heavener Sub.
