Hustling East

The American crew on board Canadian Pacific train 250 (Montreal St. Luc Yard to Brownville Junction, ME manifest) is kicking up the powder as they hustle east out of Jackman heading home on the Moosehead Sub. Thanks to CP's aggressive upgrades this fall the west end of the line is already up to 40 MPH and much brush has been cleared opening up great scenes such as this s-curve beside Long Pond just east of the little Drop In Lane crossing at MP 65.7.

Providing the sole power was a pair of SD40-2F Barns CMQ 9017 and 9020 (GMDD London, ON blt. Nov. 1988 for CP with the same numbers). The 9017 received this Bangor and Aroostook heritage scheme in 2016 at the historic former BAR Derby shops to honor one of CMQ's component roads.

To learn more about this railroad and some history check out the detailed caption with this shot from last summer of a westbound train at this same spot: flic.kr/p/2j8jsNW
