Four Bigs

All four big six axle Alco products on the Delaware-Lackawanna roster that currently run were on the point of the Pocono job heading to work the mill at Pocono Summit, the lumber yard in Cresco and ultimately head down to Slateford to tie up.

They paused here at MP 107.6 to switch their train for a while and pull three empty propane cars from a customer located right behind them.

They are framed up by the eve of the splendidly restored former DL&W

Tobyhanna Station, constructed in 1908, and now owned by the Lackawanna County Railroad Authority and home of the Pocono Mountain Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society. This Victorian railroad station has exterior wainscoting on the lower section, clapboard siding in

the middle wall section, and vertical boards with scallop nosing on the upper portion.

The four Delaware Lackawanna units in charge are: 3643 (MLW M636 blt. Nov. 1970 as CP 4743), 3642 (Alco C636 blt. Apr. 1968 as PC 6342), 3007 (MLW M630 blt. Dec. 1970 as PGE 707) , 3000 (MLW M630 blt. Dec. 1970 as PGE 706)
