Pacific Zip

Burlington Northern train No. 3, the "Pacific Zip" is making a quick crew change at Thurston Street in Wenatchee, Washington the afternoon of July 1, 1995.

Created in 1972, the "Pacific Zip" TOFC mail train became a legend, spanning the distance between Chicago and Seattle in 50 hours. The tight schedule lengthened over time when TOFC pickups were added in Spokane and South Seattle. The train would survive into the BNSF era, becoming the ZCHCSEH intermodal.
