General Refractories
Union Pacific's Provo-based YPV51 switch job makes a set out on the General Refractories brick plant spur at Cutler in Lehi, Utah the afternoon of Dec. 29, 1987.
The factory was built by the federal government during WWII when the need for steel became critical in the production of armaments for defense. The fire brick made by the factory was essential in the production of steel made by nearby Geneva Steel as part of the nation-wide defense effort in 1942.
