Wild for Wildflowers
Rio Grande GP40-2s No. 3105, 3120, and 3122 have two SP AC4400CWs in tow as they pull a second section of the Roper - Provo turn, approaching the 106th South grade crossing in South Jordan, Utah the afternoon of Aug. 18, 1996. SP assigned a dozen or so DRGW 40s to work locals along the Wasatch Front that summer, a few months before the merger. After UP took control in September, the baby hot rods were quickly reassigned to work in Texas and California. Humbug!
