Desert Sandstorm
Those who have spent time on US Highway 6 in Emery County, Utah will likely recognize the distinctive profile of Mt. Elliott, a 7142 ft. peak in the Book Cliffs. We were driving west from Green River when we encountered a short but severe sandstorm near Woodside. Gale force winds tossed debris across the road, into the car, and visibility was zero. Remains of the storm can be discerned as Amtrak's California Zephyr exits Grassy on June 4, 2021.
