Climbing Thompson Hill

While thunderheads build above the La Sal Mountains, a Rio Grande manifest freight leans into a six degree curve while climbing a 1% grade near Thompson, Utah on May 26, 1979. The power consist includes GP30s No. 3003, 3020, GP40-2 No. 3099, SD45 No. 5322 and GP40 No. 3066.
