Smoothie Queen
On this day I decided I'd treat myself to a smoothie from Smoothie King. Any time I get Smoothie King I have an internal debate with myself all the way there on whether or not it's worth the price. I think to myself "You have a blender. Go buy fruit, make it yourself, save money." In the end I usually find a way to justify why I deserve it such as: You went to class!, You washed the dog! You helped your mom! You earned it. It speaks to the way advertising has trained us to think in terms of "I've earned this, I have a right to it." While standing in line contemplating which frozen fruit combination to get I begin to daydream. How nice would it be to walk in here be told "Look how cute you are! Here's a free smoothie." In fact I like this idea so much you could say I desire to be pampered with fruity concoctions and compliments. If I could walk into Smoothie King and receive free ego and nutrient boosts I would be a happier person.
