Stainless steel type 304 pipe/ tube is part of a family of stainless steel alloys (301, 302, 303, 304, 316, 347). Non-magnetic alloy 304 tubing is the most versatile and the most widely used of all stainless
steels, and has lower carbon content to minimize carbide precipitation and is used in high-temperature applications. It's commonly used to process equipment in the mining, chemical, cryogenic, food, dairy
and pharmaceutical industries. Its resistance to corrosive acids.
Since A312 TP304 Pipe is not alloyed with molybdenum, the grade can only tolerate low concentrations at limited temperatures. In naturally aerated sulphuric acid the corrosion rate is below 0.1 mm/year
provided the temperature is not higher than 20°C (68oF) in 5% solution.
ASTM A312 TP304 Tube has a relatively high carbon content. Thus, there is a certain risk of reduced intergranular corrosion resistance if the steel has become sensitised after e.g. improper heat treatment
or welding.
