It is fascinating how much power we put into objects of our past. Paintings, memoirs, trinkets, and photographs can spur our memories. However, items that we wear and brandish, like a set of armor and a mask, can hold far more power over the owner than they would like to admit.

 

These objects obtain the power to influence their owners through acts of nostalgia. A warrior left dormant returning to the stand with in a glass case they leave their war face in. Standing so the armor encases their reflection, pondering the acts that gave them honor and valor in the past. Tracing their fingers over the glass as the memories replay themselves. The violence hidden by the songs and praise to follow.

 

The dormant warrior torments themselves, while all that energy and all those memories lock themselves to the armor. Repeat this enough, and let the blood soaked into the deepest nooks of an otherwise obsessively cleaned set fester. Should the warrior eventually, after just enough festering, find themselves drawn to wear the armor, purely for nostalgic purposes, that is when the festering magic will infect the warrior. The memories layering themselves over the warrior's reality until they are CERTAIN it is the second coming of their steel bound purpose.

 

It is even more fascinating how much of our soul we will carve out to make room for any sort of purpose. What depths we will fall to when we find ourselves milked dry. Especially with the anonymity of a mask.
